Our volunteers are committed to providing the community with education and programs to further help in conservation. We provide a variety of events yearly to help further this goal.

    Pollinator Symposium featuring Brie Arthur, Berry Hines and Mark Weathington.. Wonderful speakers and refreshments! 

  • Mothing Night Event

    July 17, 2025 2030-2230

    A citizen scientist event ran with Lior Carlson from NC Moth Project/Backyard Butterflies. We will have stations setup that draw in moths so we can view, identify and record them. Please bring bug spray if needed and wear long pants as there will be lots of bugs out. Bring a blanket or chair to sit on, and a flashlight.

  • History of Nash County Arboretum

    Joie Byrne will discuss the early history of the Nash County Arboretum and how the original plan was developed.

  • How to Grow Rhubarbs at Home

    Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Mike Brindle will discuss how to grow rhubarb at home.

  • The Business of Growing and Selling Christmas Trees

    Sherry Peele will discuss the business of growing and selling Christmas trees and wreaths.

Master Gardener Certification

During the course, participants will learn more about soils, fertilizer, pruning, propagation, and many other horticultural concepts, as well as learning how to diagnose insect and pest problems and make informed pest management decisions based on integrated pest management principles

Children’s Education

Our outdoor education center is currently being built! Hands on activities to include gardening, insect hunts, citizen scientist projects, and more.
